The IMAX Projectionist is a technical operator for the IMAX Theater. Responsibilities include operation and daily maintenance of the IMAX Projection system; ensuring all featured films run smoothly and on-time; maintaining the highest quality IMAX Experience for guests.
Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Responsible for operation and theater start-up and shut-down procedures for the IMAX projection and sound systems including air compressor, rectifier, and central cooling unit.
Ensure that the console operator is on time and completes successful start-up of console equipment and is ready to begin shows. If there is any issue, projectionist will assist console operator. Projectionist will temporarily fulfill console operator duties if console operator is not present, and/or call in assistance/replacement if necessary.
Responsible for recording the system readings from gauges, etc. several times per day in order to keep the IMAX equipment in proper repair.
Must immediately notify Manager or Director of any problems, abnormalities, or malfunctions.
Responsible for seeing that shows are started on time and in coordination with the ushers, box office, and console operator.
Consistently monitors the quality of the picture and sound in the theater.
Responsible for cleaning and general/preventative maintenance of projection and sound systems including cleaning, vacuuming, and dusting all flat surfaces in the booth.
Responsible for handling minor/daily repairs to film and equipment, and knowledge of how to contact Projection Manager or Director for assistance with such repairs.
Assisting IMAX Corporation technical service personnel with quarterly service routines of the projection and sound systems, including major and minor repairs and/or system upgrades as directed by the Projection Manager and/or Director.
Will have awareness and understanding of emergency procedures and performing duties as required in such situations.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have high technical and mechanical aptitude, and be good with computers.
A/V, film, and/or multi-media system experience preferred but not required.
Qualified candidate will be a mature, responsible, dependable, punctual individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
Must have a positive attitude.
Possesses excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable addressing the public to make necessary announcements.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Confidence in solving technical problems in stressful situations.
Occasional heavy lifting required.
Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Acts as team player by contributing to effective team management of all problems, issues, and opportunities.
Performing other projects/duties/tasks as required or assigned by the Projection Manager or Director.
