GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
Internship (unpaid)
(Summer 2013)
The museum is seeking creative individuals to assist the museum’s marketing team. This position is designed as a non-paid internship experience with the opportunity to gain valuable job knowledge and work in a highly creative environment with skilled professionals. Hours per week are flexible and will not total more than 30 hours per week. Please include samples of work or a link to an online portfolio.
Basic responsibilities (including but not limited to):
• Assist the graphic designer
• Assist in the creation of brochures, fliers, invitations, posters, rack cards, and other print materials that reflect the Museum in a positive way.
• Assist in the printing of large format signs and posters and mounting and/or laminating of images
Qualifications
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Bridge
Experience with Mac OS X
Studying or recent graduate in an art related field such as graphic design, fine art, interior design, or theater design
Experience in graphic design, print production and the publishing process.
Proficiency using small hand tools
Commitment to quality
Able to work with a group in fast paced environment
Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
Passionate about the importance of museum education in the community
Ability to lift 20 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time on concrete floors
