MUSEUM SCHOOL DIRECTOR
(Full Time Exempt)
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President of Interpretation, the Museum School Director is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of all preschool programming including staff, students, parents and classroom activities.
Basic functions and responsibilities (including but not limited to) :
Contract teaching staff for each Preschool session and contact, interview and hire new teaching staff as needed. Orient new staff about the goals and philosophy of Museum School, TDFPS Minimum Standards, emergency health and safety procedures, classroom management techniques, planned daily activities of the program, and expectations of ethical conduct.
Interact with parents and children to develop and maintain open communication.
Supervise teaching staff, observe classrooms regularly and evaluate annually.
Coordinate curriculum with science and history collections and develop new curricula as needed to provide a quality age-appropriate program.
Coordinate professional development opportunities for Museum School staff and maintain training records.
Serve as liaison for licensing requirements; maintain records as required by the Texas Department of Family and Regulatory Services and the Fort Worth Health department.
Serve as liaison for the Museum School Advisory Committee and Museum Schools’ collaboration with TCU.
Represent Museum School in community events as needed. Collaborate when appropriate with local programs serving children and families in the community.
Perform other duties as necessary or as required by the Executive Vice President of Interpretation.
Qualifications
Education – Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood /Education preferred.
Minimum of five years experience in Early Childhood environments.
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, meet challenges in a positive and professional manner.
