Museum School Teacher
Museum School is seeking a qualified, enthusiastic teacher for the 2015-16 fall/spring preschool program. Museum School’s discovery approach offers children a unique opportunity for learning in a creative, informal classroom environment, using age-appropriate interpretation and hands-on interaction and opportunities. The interdisciplinary curriculum combines science and history with creative activities. The ideal Museum School teacher is passionate about instilling respect and appreciation for nature in children as well as providing extraordinary learning environments. This is a two day a week part-time teaching position from September to May in addition to various week long summer sessions. This position is within the Museum’s Education Department and reports to the Museum Preschool Director.
Basic Function and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Daily lesson plans
Planning and preparing projects
Obtaining resources for classroom use
Implementing effective classroom management
Planning developmentally appropriate activities
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field
Teaching experience preferred
Excellent people skills, maintaining a professional attitude toward all staff, parents and children
Respect for all children and their learning abilities or differences
Good organizational Skills
Reliable and flexible
Meet the requirements of the licensing regulations as set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
