Studio Team Member Part-Time Employment

Under the supervision of the Innovation Gallery & Studios Manager, the Studio Team Member’s main responsibilities include guest experience enhancement and educational activity facilitation of the Innovation Gallery and Studio through engagement around exhibits, hands-on activities, live science and technology demonstrations, and public festivals.

 

Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Learn exhibit content and activities that are based in STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Math) and share them in exciting and creative ways with diverse audience

  • Proactively seek out guests and initiate conversations to provide exceptional guest experienceSupport full time staff through: opening and closing of the Studios and exhibit gallery, safety and emergency procedures, programming, managing supplies, and SQS appearance of Studios

  • Participate in both team meetings and trainings/professional developments

  • Professionally represent the museum and its mission to guests

  • Learn exhibit content and activities that are based in STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Math) and share them in exciting and creative ways with diverse audiences

  • Be a fun, creative, and active member of the Innovation Studios Team and contribute positively to its team culture

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a background/interest in science, history, theatre or related field strongly preferred

  • Teaching and/or theatrical/public speaking experience strongly preferred

  • Comfortable learning a wide variety of content both in the work space and independently, including but not limited to: science, history, technology, engineering, art, and design

  • Confident interacting with diverse groups of all sizes, including varying ages, backgrounds, knowledge levels, learning styles, and special needs.

  • Ability to positively meet challenges in an ever changing environment with creativity and flexibility

  • Can work independently to identify jobs that needs to be done and follow through with little direction, while being able to adapt to working cooperatively with other team members

  • Fluency in multiple languages a plus (Spanish preferred)

  • Proven ability to respond and make good decisions under pressure

  • Ability to be active for extended periods of time, as well as frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Candidates must also possess the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours may vary by the needs of the museum and seasonally.
