Custodial Manager
This position oversees all custodial activities for the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, including over 160,000 square feet of exhibit, classroom, collections and administrative space and the exterior campus. Areas of responsibility include: managing the activities of three lead custodians and up to 15 custodians, planning, program evaluation and development, policy formulation, budget management, internal client and guest relations, inventory control, compliance with health and safety regulations, staff development - which includes leadership enhancement for lead staff, supply and equipment acquisition, staff recruitment and selection, and progressive discipline of staff.
Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
This custodial manager’s responsibilities include training employees in all types of new equipment and the use of sustainable products. Ensure adherence to museum policies and procedures, proper guest interface including guest experience and satisfaction, attendance and productivity. Responsible for hiring, discipline, employee development, performance evaluation and management as well as succession planning. Responsible for improving processes, morale and safety of the department. Works as a liaison to guests and senior staff. Assures quality of staffs’ work and performance. Works with supervisor to update assignments and proper scheduling. Continually identifies methods to enhance operational effectiveness by creating benchmarks and juxtaposing them with similar operations. Monitors timesheets to ensure effective assignments. Conducts quality assurance inspections according to established schedule. Conducts studies and prepares reports as required
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Minimum of three years experience managing custodial operations in a fast-paced, guest-oriented environment. Good management and leadership skills and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
