Part-Time Employment
Design Department Internship
The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is scheduled to begin pre-opening events on November 16, 2009. The museum is seeking interns to assist the museum’s design team in planning and installation of exhibition and program spaces. This position is designed as an experience with the opportunity to gain valuable job knowledge and work in a highly creative environment with skilled professionals. Position duration through December 2009.
Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Assist art director at installation of exhibits
- Assist concept designer with prop acquisition for installations and displays
- Assist director of design production as requested
- Digital image formatting and printing including large format printing, mounting and laminating of images
- Coordinate information between design group and other departments in the museum
Qualifications:
- Studying or recent graduate in an art related field such as graphic design, fine art, interior design, or theater design is preferred
- Commitment to quality
- Valid driver’s license needed
- Able to work with a group in fast paced environment
- Experience in the following Mac programs needed: Photoshop and Adobe illustrator
- Vector works and CAD a plus
- Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
- Available occasional nights and weekends as opening approaches
- Passionate about the importance of museum education in the community
- Proficiency using small hand tools
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, climb ladders, walk and stand for long periods of time on concrete floors
