Innovation Gallery Innovators
The Museum of Science and History Innovation Gallery seeks dynamic individuals to facilitate and enliven creative guest experiences in the Innovation Gallery. This individual must demonstrate a proven ability to work with large, diverse audiences, strong presentation skills and a commitment to informal learning. This position reports to Director of Youth and Family Programs/Innovation Center.
Hours: Part-time positions available,
Sunday-Saturday, 9:30-1:30 and 1:30-5:30.
Up to 20 hours per week available
Basic Functions and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Ensure highest level of consistent and continuous guest experience
- Maintain gallery readiness and show quality standards
- Engage and invite guests to participate in multiple gallery experiences
- Facilitate gallery program experiences
- Collaborate with team members
Qualifications:
- Has a sense of humor
- Is motivated, self-confident, willing to take risks and unflappable
- Ability to react positively to a rapidly changing environment
- Demonstrates an understanding of inquiry, developmental theory and aesthetic development
- Ability to simultaneously engage children and adults in an energetic, friendly and professional manner
- Must be comfortable leading interactive presentations and role-playing in a group
- Teaching experience or coursework in education and/or theater arts preferred
- Ability to generate ideas that can be turned into gallery guest experiences
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and be able to carry up to 25 pounds
- Uniform, dress code required
- Ability to work week-end and holiday hours
- Fact-paced, highly sensory, stimulating work environment due to constant interactions with guests and other staff
- Must attend 20 hours of initial orientation and monthly professional development sessions
