What’s the best way to really see Fort Worth ’s Cultural District? On a Segway! You can now schedule and purchase Segway tours of the Cultural District and Botanic Garden through the Museum of Science and History! Your two-hour tour will start with a 20-minute lesson in front of the National Cowgirl Museum then will take you to the Modern Art Museum , to the Botanic Garden and all points in between. All tours are provided by Cowtown Segway on Gen2 Personal Transporter Segways, the latest and safest in Segway technology.

Tours are offered at 10 a.m. and noon on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tours must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Segway riders must be age 16 or older; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Each rider must weigh at least 100 pounds and no more than 250 pounds. Cost is $59 per person, plus tax, and includes all instruction and equipment.

Refund/Rescheduling Policy
Non-refundable, cannot be rescheduled.
Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded less than 24 hours prior, and cannot be rescheduled because your space is being guaranteed at the event.

Weather Policy
Activity takes place rain or shine.
The activity runs regardless of weather conditions except when dangerous conditions are foreseen. In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability).  Call 817.284.9191 to confirm whether or not your event has been cancelled.

Other Policies
All participants must sign a waiver.
All participants are required to sign a liability waiver before taking the tour. Helmets are also required and are provided by Cowtown Segway at no additional charge.

All participants must meet age and weight requirements.
All Segway riders must be age 16 or older and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Each rider must weigh at least 100 pounds and no more than 250 pounds.

Not suitable for pregnant women.
Unfortunately, for safety reasons, pregnant women are not allowed to participate on Segway tours.

Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with support.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tours must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance. Space is limited so many tours may be sold out. To maximize your chance of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. You can do this online or over the phone using only Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Who can ride the Segway ® PT?
Although riding a Segway PT is relatively easy, insurance does require that all riders be at least 16 years of age (an adult or guardian must accompany children under 18). Also, riders should have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance. The Segway PT is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 260 pounds.

I have children in my group that are under 16 years old. Can they still come on the tour?
No, unfortunately children under the age of 16 are not permitted on the tour for safety reasons.

How will I hear the tour guide’s commentary?
If your tour is historical and/or informational (not all tours are), each rider will be provided with a top of the line headset unit, making it easy to hear the information being offered by the guide and guaranteeing an optimal tour experience. 

What happens if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine. But don't worry! Some of our best tours have taken place in less-than-perfect weather! Just remember to bring a poncho, not an umbrella, as you will need both hands to operate the Segway.

Do I have to sign a waiver?
All Segway riders must sign a liability waiver before participating. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them.

I am a DFW-area local - will I enjoy this tour?
Though you may have seen the sights before, you will still enjoy the unique experience of gliding around the city and parks.

Where does the tour end?
We will return to our tour departure point near the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame approximately two hours after your start time.

How much time of the tour is actually spent on a Segway?
The majority of your time will be on the Segway. We will start off with a short training session and then be on the Segway for the remainder of the time. There will be one quick stop to dismount and look at the view while you stretch your legs for a bit.

Will we stop to take photos and go inside the sites listed for the tour?
While we can stop at some of the locations to take in the views and snap some photos, there isn't enough time on the tour to go into any of the sites -- there is too much ground to be covered!  But make a mental note where you might like to visit after your tour!

Do Segways have the ability to store bags, purses?
We have the ability to transport necessary items i.e. cameras, medications, etc. All other personal belongs will be kept in the meeting location. Cowtown Segway is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

Are the tours conducted in English only?
Yes, the tours are only conducted in English. However, our non-English speaking guests will still enjoy the experience of riding a Segway and seeing the sights.

Are restrooms available?
Yes, restrooms are available at the meeting location. But there are no easily accessible restroom stops along the tour route. If you should need to stop, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

How do I learn to ride a Segway® PT ?
All customers are required to take a 20-30 minute hands-on training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Riders are trained on Segway ® PT operation and emergency stops. All riders are required to wear a safety helmet.

How does the Segway® PT work?
This breakthrough technology, termed "dynamic stabilization," is the essence of the Segway PT. Dynamic stabilization enables the Segway PT to work seamlessly with the body's movements. Gyroscopes and tilt sensors in the unit monitor a rider's center of gravity at about 100 times a second. When the rider leans slightly forward, the Segway PT moves forward. When the rider leans slightly back, the Segway PT moves backward.

How safe is the Segway PT?
The utmost care and research has gone into ensuring that the Segway PT is safe. The Segway PT's b alan cing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience. The Segway PT has redundant systems and sophisticated alerts built into its design, and many thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway PT is safe when used appropriately. It is important that Segway PT riders understand their responsibility to ride safely. Proper skill level and understanding of the Segway PT prevents injuries caused by loss of control or misuse.

How fast do the Segways go?
Segways have a top speed of 12.5 mph. However, certain tours may have a limited speed depending on the environment. The Segways were designed to have fun and we have the MOST fun of any tour in town!

Are Segway rentals available through Cowtown Segway?
Generally, no. Please join us on our guided tour, and let your tour guide know at the end if you're still interested in a rental. Occasionally these requests can be accommodated, but only after you have already taken the guided tour.

What is the Gen2 Segway Personal Transporter (PT) i2?
On Monday, August 14, 2006, Segway released their second generation personal transporter (PT) with the model name i2. This machine utilizes new technology called LeanSteer which allows the rider to lean in the direction he/she would like to turn. The Segway keys have also been updated to include wireless capability. We proudly provide all of our tours on these latest generation of Segway!
