Marketing/Social Media Summer Internship (Part-time)

The museum is seeking a creative and inventive intern with strong writing and social media skills to play a key role in ensuring the Museum successfully fulfills its mission to provide an extraordinary environment to engage youth and families in learning about science, history, and natural history.

The intern will assist with content creation and work as part of a creative team, reporting to the Marketing Manager. Responsibilities may include development of marketing/social media content, research, media monitoring and analytics tracking.

Hours per week are flexible and will not total more than 15 hours per week. Working hours per week are flexible, and may include some nights and weekends as events warrant.

Basic responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Create copy/content for various Museum platforms, print, and digital
  • Photography for events and programs
  • Production and editing of video for use on the Museum website and social media
  • Writing draft copy of news releases
  • Distribution and tracking of new releases
  • Maintenance of media contact list

Additional expectations & responsibilities:

  • Skilled proofreader
  • Able to work with a group in fast fast-paced environment
  • General knowledge of AP Style and content management
  • Participation in creative brainstorming sessions

Qualifications:

The internship is open to current undergraduate juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students studying Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a similar discipline. The successful intern will also possess:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with an attention to detail; ability to read and edit copy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.
  • Passionate about the importance of the museum in the community
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds, walk, and stand for long periods on concrete floors

Internship end date: August or September

Hourly rate: $15 an hour, 15-20 hours a week.

Museum Outreach Facilitator (Part-Time)  

Job Summary: 
The primary responsibilities of the Museum Outreach Facilitator are to support the Education Department and the Discovery Lab on Wheels Program with targeted assignments designated by FWMSH Outreach. Facilitators will implement Outreach programs at program sites and organize materials and resources associated with the program. This position reports to Outreach Assistant Manager.

Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to: 

Implementation of Museum Outreach & Discovery Lab on Wheels Programming:

  • Transport, load and unload materials at Museum and offsite locations (able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds).
  • Check in at program site upon arrival.
  • Set up in classroom, lab or designated location.
  • Facilitate student learning during session.
  • Interact with program site representative.
  • Manage inventory and materials and replenishment as needed.
  • Complete programming reports and provide feedback.
  • Communicate with Museum staff effectively.

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • The ability to work well with children and be an effective problem solver
  • Experience in educational lesson implementation with a variety of age-groups
  • Possess a respect for all children, celebrating their unique learning styles and abilities
  • Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm in the delivery and implementation of Program lessons

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing one, experience working with children or in youth development settings.

Museum School Teacher (Part-Time)  

Museum School Mission Statement: The purpose of Museum School is to offer children a unique opportunity for learning in a creative, informal environment, using age-appropriate interpretation and hands-on interaction and opportunities.

Museum School Philosophy: Museum School’s discovery approach enhances a child’s awareness of the world. The curriculum combines natural and physical sciences, history, and anthropology with art, music, and literature.

Museum School Goals: Children will: have first-hand experiences; develop an appreciation for the natural world; begin to construct their own knowledge; gain skills in listening and language acquisition; and creatively express themselves through music, art, and drama.

The Education Department is seeking qualified, enthusiastic Museum School Teachers for its Preschool program. Museum School Teachers are responsible for the implementation of age-appropriate activities that support specific class subjects in a way that reflects the mission statement, philosophy and goals of the Fort Worth Museum Preschool. The ideal candidate has a passion for providing extraordinary learning experiences for children.

Museum School Preschool teaching schedules vary. The Fall/Spring Museum Preschool classes operate Tuesday through Friday from 8:15 AM until 4:30 PM, August through May. The Summer Museum School Preschool classes operate for 4 weeks, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM during the months of June and July.

The position of Museum School Teacher falls under the direction and supervision of the Museum Preschool Director.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education
  • Certified EC-4 Generalist or EC-6 Generalist preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years (PK-3) teaching experience required

  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the Museum School curriculum topics in order to effectively teach lessons and activities to young learners.

  • Implement classroom guidance and discipline strategies that reflect the Fort Worth Museum Preschool values.
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of professional development annually.
  • Attend and participate in beginning-, middle- and end-of-year staff meetings.
  • Attend and participate in a Monday morning staff meeting once a month.
  • Teach a minimum of 2 weeks in the Museum School Summer program.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Minimum Standards.
  • Implement procedures and protocols related to the health and safety of all students and employees to ensure their safety.
  • Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Tarrant County Child Care certification.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to bend, lift (30-50 lbs.), reach, sit (in a chair and on the floor), walk, easily move from a stand to a sit on the floor and back to a stand
