Because the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (Museum) is a family museum, we expect guests to behave appropriately. Unruly, disruptive or offensive behavior is prohibited and will not be tolerated. Violating our Museum policies may be cause for ejection from the Museum without refund. We expect all guests to behave in a family-friendly manner. Profanity and aggressive or unruly behavior are offensive to Museum guests and may be cause for ejection from the Museum without refund.

No alcoholic beverages can be brought into the Museum. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the Museum must be consumed prior to departing the Museum and in some cases prior to departing designated areas of the Museum. Excessive consumption of alcohol is cause for ejection from the Museum. No one under age 21 is permitted to consume alcoholic beverages and proper ID is required to purchase and/or consume alcohol. Additionally, consumption of any type of beverage or food is prohibited in Museum galleries where noted.

In keeping with our family-friendly environment and for safety reasons, the Museum enforces a dress code. Proper attire must be worn in the Museum at all times, including shirts and appropriate footwear. Tattoos or clothing with offensive language or graphics are not permitted at any time. Examples of clothing not permitted are those which display the following:

  • Profanity
  • Support of drugs or drug use
  • Pornography
  • Gang Symbols
  • Graphic Violence
  • Promotion of discrimination against any group

Bathing suits are not permitted.

Museum admission may be denied or a guest may be asked to leave if clothing or tattoos are deemed to be inappropriate by management and the guest refuses all reasonable options. Shirts cannot be turned inside out as a solution.

Outside food, beverages or coolers may not be brought into the museum. Outside food and beverage may be enjoyed, on a first come, first served basis, on the Stars Café Outdoor Terrace. All of the green spaces around the museum are also available on a first come, first served basis.

There is one exception to this point. The museum understands healthy snacks for toddlers are an important part of their nutrition. Small portions of snacks and drinks for toddlers will be allowed in The Children’s Museum.

Guests using profanity or abusive language, symbols or gestures may be ejected from the museum without refund.

In addition to the Museum Guest Code of Conduct, guests are required to comply with all local, state and federal laws as well as other museum policies, rules and instructions posted or otherwise listed or verbally communicated.

The following items are not permitted at any time:

  • Food/Coolers (except special diet and infant/toddler food) •Markers, Spray Paint
  • Lawn/Folding Chairs or Tables
  • Knives
  • Spiked Clothing/Jewelry
  • Laser Pointers
  • Fireworks/Explosives
  • Firearms/Ammunition
  • Chemical Weapons, Mace/Pepper Spray
  • Selfie Sticks, Monopods
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones)

Pets are not permitted in the Museum with the exception of service animals.

The Museum requests that all photographs or video taken by our guests be used for their personal use and enjoyment only. Any use, reuse or reproduction for commercial purposes without the express written consent of the Museum is strictly prohibited. The Museum reserves the right to refuse to allow photography of any kind as necessary at individual locations/galleries/etc. No commercial photography of any kind is permitted. Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:

  • Any camera mounted to a vehicle, drone, cart, scooter or other moving object
  • No cameras (video, still, cell phone, smart phone, etc.) are allowed in any theater at any time – Energy Blast 4D Theater, Noble Planetarium, Omni Theater

Guests must have written permission to use photography and/or video of Museum images for commercial broadcasting, advertising, marketing or publishing in any medium.

Leased exhibition / temporary exhibition may have further restrictions on photography per contractually binding policies. Areas within the Museum or portions of an exhibition wherein photography may be limited or prohibit will be communicated via signage, exhibit gallery guide or Museum team member.

The Museum Campus is smoke-free. Team members, vendors and guests are not allowed to smoke in Museum facilities at any time. E-cigarettes are also not allowed. Guests may smoke outside but not within 50 feet of any entrance to the museum and the museum requests smokers refrain from smoking on primary pathways to and from Museum entrances.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, the Museum prohibits the operation or use of any unmanned aerial vehicle on, from or above the Museum campus absent specific written consent. This includes all UAVs, commonly known as ‘drones,’ regardless of size, weight or purpose.
