Security Officer (Part-Time)

Basic Functions and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Conduct scheduled and random checks of the Museum's public and non-public areas, during operating and non-operating hours, and ensure the safety of guests and staff.
• Conduct end-of-day safety and security checks of the Museum facilities.
• Monitor fire systems, respond to and investigate alarms, and implement emergency procedures, up to and including evacuation, when appropriate.
• Monitor security systems, arm/disarm systems, respond to and investigate alarms.
• Provide first-aid in the event of injury to guests or staff, and generate written reports.
• Handle lost and found items and inquiries according to Museum policy. 
• Perform office-related duties, including operating computers, portable radios, CCTV, and related equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Security Director and Museum Management.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
• Experience as a security officer/guard, loss prevention specialist, police officer, military police, or equivalent combination of training and related experience is preferred but not required. 
• Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. 
• Basic knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Suite of programs, including Word and Excel.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands: Ability to stand/sit/walk for extended periods; ability to lift/exert up to 50 lbs. Environmental conditions: Inside, but subject to ventilation systems throughout the buildings; possible exposure to unpleasant or inclement weather conditions when conducting outside checks and/or traveling to and from parking areas.

Studio Team Member (Part-Time)

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Innovation Studios Supervisor, the Studio Team Member’s main responsibilities include guest experience enhancement and educational activity facilitation of the Innovation Gallery and Studio through engagement around exhibits, hands-on activities, live science and technology demonstrations, and public festivals.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Proactively seek out guests and initiate conversations to provide an exceptional guest experience.
• Comfortably interact with diverse groups of varying ages, backgrounds, knowledge levels, learning styles, and special needs.
• Learn exhibit content and activities that are based in STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Math) and share them in exciting and creative ways with diverse audiences.
• Perform opening and closing procedures for studios and exhibit galleries, ensuring safety protocols, managing supplies, and maintaining studio appearance.
• Work independently to identify jobs that need to be done and follow through with little direction, while being able to adapt to working cooperatively with other team members.
• Contribute to the positive team culture by bringing creativity and enthusiasm to your role.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Comfortable learning a wide variety of subjects with a team or independently, including, but not limited to, science, history, engineering, art, and design.
• Ability to positively meet challenges in an ever-changing environment with creativity and flexibility.
• Multi-tasking and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently, as well as effectively with team members.

Preferred, but not required:

• Bachelor’s degree with an interest in science, history, education, museum studies, or a related field.
• Experience in teaching, theatrical performance, or public speaking.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Mobile Noble Planetarium Coordinator (Part-Time)

Job Summary: The Mobile Noble Planetarium Coordinator supports the implementation of planetarium programs at school sites and at the Museum throughout the year, with programs scheduled Monday through Saturday during both daytime and evening hours. This position requires a reliable, punctual individual with excellent interpersonal skills who works well with adults and children.

Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Program Coordination

• Coordinate Mobile Noble programs by contacting institutions, planning programs, and preparing all necessary equipment and procedures.
• Prepare program materials, equipment, and documentation.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for teachers, administrators, and community partners.
• Perform computer-based tasks such as email communication and scheduling.
• Support onsite Noble Planetarium operations as needed.

Program Delivery

• Drive the Mobile Noble Ford Transit 150 cargo van to and from program sites.
• Being an onsite point-person for the Mobile Noble program.
• Load, unload, and transport materials between the Museum and schools.
• Check in with the school offices upon arrival.
• Set up components at the school site and the Museum.
• Facilitate student learning during planetarium sessions.
• Interact professionally and communicate museum resources with teachers, parents, administrators, and children.
• Communicate educational connections pertinent to the program.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old in accordance with company vehicle insurance requirements.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Strong interest and enthusiasm for science and astronomy.
• Confident public speaking and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and organizational abilities.
• Extremely dependable and punctual.
• Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.
• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently, and work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and positive body language.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and move for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate and navigate in low- or zero-light environments.
• Comfortable working in a loud, fast-paced environment that includes noise, movement, and interaction with young children.

Schedule: 15-25 hours per week.

Salary: $19-21 an hour.
