Family STEAM Festival Facilitator (Part-Time)

Job Summary: To support implementation of the Family STEAM Festival program on scheduled evenings that run from October to April/May. This person must be reliable and punctual. Must also have excellent interpersonal skills, and work well with adults and children. Programs are scheduled on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00PM with set up before and teardown after, with work hours typically from 5:00PM-8:30PM. Please note you will be driving your own vehicle to and from the scheduled schools. Transportation is not provided by the Museum.

Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Loading and unloading of materials at schools.
  • Set up components at the school site.
  • Facilitate demos, live science show, and activities.
  • Interact with teachers, parents and children.
  • Communicate educational connections that align with the activities.
  • Communicate museum resources with teachers, parents, and administrators.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to proactively multi-task.
  • The ability to exercise active listening skills and positive body language through smiling, sustaining eye contact and good posture.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to carry up to 25 pounds.

Salary: $18/hr

Family Museum Night Facilitator (Part-Time)

Job Summary: To support implementation of Family Museum Nights program on scheduled evenings that run from October to April. This person must be reliable, and punctual. Must also have excellent interpersonal skills, and work well with adults and children. Programs are scheduled on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm with work hours typically from 5:00-8:30PM.

Basic Function and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Set up programing materials, demonstrations, and activities at Museum.
  • Facilitate hands on demonstrations and activities with program participants.
  • Facilitate participant learning during session.
  • Interact with school administrators, teachers, parents and children.
  • Communicate educational connections pertinent to program.
  • Communicate museum resources with teachers and administrators.
  • Clean up, organize and put away materials at end of event.
  • Communicate materials needs and any other pertinent information about the program to Family Museum Night Coordinator.
  • Assist Museum Guest Services staff with making sure participants are acting in a safe and appropriate manner during the program.

Qualifications:

  • Enjoy facilitating the learning of both children and adults.
  • Flexibility with changing situations and the ability to solve problems.
  • The ability to proactively multi-task.
  • The ability to be able to speak clearly and loudly to program participants in a situation with sustained background noise.
  • The ability to exercise active listening skills and positive body language through smiling, sustaining eye contact and good posture.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to push carts and tables on wheels.
  • The ability to load and unload materials from carts.
  • The ability to carry up to 25 pounds.
