For more than seventy-five years, Museum School has introduced children to the wonders of the world around them. Founded in 1949 by sixteen women in Fort Worth, this early childhood enrichment program was originally called the “Frisky and Blossom Club.” Over the course of the program’s history, the Museum School curriculum has been refined, but it has remained anchored by the Museum’s incredible science and history collections. The program is creative and distinctive in the way it combines natural and physical sciences, history, and anthropology with art and literature.
Museum School holds the distinction of being the first museum preschool in Texas and one of the pioneers nationally in recognizing the capacity of children, ages 3-6, to learn about science and natural history. The dedicated Museum School staff have expertly presented lessons to generations of children, inspiring students to dream of becoming astronauts, engineers, historians, paleontologists, and much more through their encounters with real objects and real stories. Museum School stands as a testament to the power of early childhood education in fostering a love for learning.
