The Beauty of Clay: Cultural Works of Mesoamerica Opens November 25th
Showcasing ceramic and earthenware items from the Museum’s own history collection, this new exhibit examines objects from Mesoamerica, an area of land stretching from central Mexico to northern Costa Rica. Though many are familiar with the Aztec and Maya civilizations, many other societies impacted Pre-Colombian culture such as the Huastec, Zapotec, and Colima.
These three cultures, featured in The Beauty of Clay, created representations of mythical and real animals in their art and everyday objects. Examine the jaguars, birds, deer and even dogs depicted in these works as part of a style known as zoomorphism!
The Beauty of Clay: Cultural Works of Mesoamerica opens on November 25, 2022 in the Havener Exhibit Gallery and is included with Museum admission. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM, and Sunday, Noon – 5 PM. Special holiday hours may apply. Plan your visit today!
